A little bit of insight…
We all have our own freedom of choice and majority of times our choices are influence by our beliefs. Beliefs are influenced by ideas. These ideas come from those who are willing to put themselves out there to be heard, albiet in their own ways. With that being said, we should reevaluate ourselves and to make sure we have the knowledge behind our beliefs and what is true about it.
I respect people’s support by any means in which they choose to do so, but I also think it’s right that they know what they are supporting. I am guilty of being easily convinced about viral topics if the right things are said. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else because they too can fall into a misleading means of support if they are as vulnerable as I am. This whole KONY 2012 has taken things to a new level, for those who are supportive and for those who aren’t. The point is that propaganda or misinformation doesn’t help alleviate global challenges, it exasperates it.
Our media was well aware of the dictatorship within our world for decades and for us to take a stand now for the change doesn’t make it too late, it’s just another open opportunity to improve our nation as a whole. All of this is to say, whether or not you agree with the IC’s Kony 2012 campaign, I think they have a right as a non-profit to get their message out. People should do their research and look into what they are supporting, but I think that one should critique the organization, not the idea. These types of campaigns serves as a catalyst to get people involved so we can voice our opinion and do something.
